“Abdij van Postel” (Postel Abbey) is located just across the border in Belgium in the wooded Postel.
This abbey was founded in the 12th century and has been managed by the Norbertines ever since. Because of their white robes they are also called ‘witheren’, they practice agroforestry and animal husbandry.
To support themselves, they brewed beer and made cheese. This has grown into a true craft industry, where many tourists like to stay.
Within the abbey walls a remarkable peace overtakes you.
This imposing, centuries-old abbey has a guest quarters, cheese factory and abbey cheese, an abbey shop, a herb garden, and an information center.
